MIDRASH TEHILLIM
1.....(25.6)
Show me Your ways, O LORD;
A.
When the LORD excommuniacted the children of Israel because of the molten calf, Moshe took up the Tent of Meeting and pitched it outside the camp, affar off (Shemot - Exodus 33:7).
Of the end of this verse - "...anyone seeking the LORD would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp", rabbi Judah said, It is not written here anyone seeking Moshe, but anyone who was seeking the LORD, in order to teach us that whenever a man pays his respects to an elder, it is as if he were paying his respects to the Presense.
B.
Then God said to Moshe, Two faces seething with anger. Get you back. Moshe went back into the camp, for the LORD spoke to Moshe concerning Face and face (Shemot - Exodus 33:11). One might not have understood exactly what this part of the verse means, but since the verse continues with - and he returned into the camp, the entire verse clearly teaches that God freed Moshe from his vow, so as to permit him to to take the Tent of Meeting back into the camp of Israel.
Rabbi Abba said, It was then that Moshe found the courage to ask God: "Show me the rule whereby You guide the nations of the Earth".
