When I see Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars that You have established,
MIDRASH TEHILLIM
1.....(8.6) ...the work of Your fingers...
Rabbi Joshua, son of Levi, taught, in saying to mankind: "...Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" (Yirmiyahu - Jeremiah 23:24) God meant, Know you that the upper worlds and the lower worlds were filled merely by the work of My fingers.

1.
And he (David) says, When I consider Your heavens as though meaning: "When I consider Your great creations in the world, and reflect upon human affairs, then I stand amazed."
Rabbi HIRSCH
1.
The psalm is uttered at the sight of the starry sky at night. By day, man, blinded by sunlight, sees only earth, and the heavens arched over it, supplying the earth below with light, warmth and moisture. It is only at night, when earth has receded into the shadows and the sky above it becomes visible with its starry hosts of shining worlds that the earth shrinks to a mere speck in the universe and man on this speck becomes so infinitely small.
2. ...You have established...
...that You have established in their path...
“to which You have given a fixed direction, whose paths You have set for them.”
