Mizmor 007, Verse 009

יְהֹוָה֮ יָדִ֢ין עַ֫מִּ֥ים שׇׁפְטֵ֥נִי יְהֹוָ֑ה כְּצִדְקִ֖י וּכְתֻמִּ֣י עָלָֽי

ʾadoonoy yodiyn ʿammiym shofteyniy ʾadoonoy ketzidkiy uchesummiy ʿoloy

The LORD will judge the nations one day; now judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and my integrity.

MIDRASH TEHILLIM

The LORD will judge the nations one day...
Turn the severity of Your judgment against the peoples of the earth.
But pronounce sentence upon me not according to my wickedness, but according to my righteousness, not according to my perversity, but to that integrity within me.

RASHI

1.
May the Lord judge the peoples...
Reverse the sentence from upon us and place it upon the nations.
2.
...judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness
But judge Israel according to the good deeds they have done and not according to the sins.

RADAK

1.
The Lord ministers judgment to the peoples:
i.e. Israel, as I have explained לאמים (in the previous verse); and the interpretation of ידין (ministereth judgment) (is) that he will exact my vengeance and my judgment from them.

...judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness...
for as for me, there is no iniquity in me nor have I sinned against them that they should hate me. He does not speak of all of them, but of the wicked among them who hated David without cause.

Rabbi HIRSCH

“The Lord will one day judge the nations. He will decide when that day shall be. He judges me also now in accordance with the extent to which I have been righteous and morally innocent.”

[דִּין] (din)
denotes the application of judgment to one individual, the passing of sentence
3.
[שָׁפַט] (shaphat)
is the enforcement of the judgment, the arrangement of circumstances in accordance with that judgment. It is related to [שפת] - “to put something in its proper place”.

[צָדַק] (tsadeq)
is righteous conduct toward one's fellow men.
5.
[תומ] (tom)
denotes walking in purity with the Lord.
