Mizmor 006, Verse 004

וְ֭נַפְשִׁי נִבְהֲלָ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד (ואת) [וְאַתָּ֥ה] יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עַד־מָתָֽי

venafshiy nivhalo meʾod vs veʾatto ʾadoonoy ʿad–mosoy

My soul is stricken with terror, while You, O LORD, how long?

Rabbi HIRSCH

1.
[וְ֭נַפְשִׁי] (venafshiy)
"But, what is worse still, is the fact that even more than my body, my spirit and my emotions, my soul is stricken as well. If I still had some strength in my spirit, then, perhaps, there might still have been some hope for the resurrection of my body through an upsurge of my spirit from within. But, with my soul in this state of utter despair, all hope is lost for my body and even more so for my spirit,
(ואת) [וְאַתָּ֥ה] But You, O LORD, ready at all times to grant new life and strength.
[עַד־מָתָֽי] (ʿad–mosoy) - How much longer, then, will I be able to bear all this without perishing?"
