Mizmor 006, Verse 002

יְֽהֹוָ֗ה אַל־בְּאַפְּךָ֥ תוֹכִיחֵ֑נִי וְֽאַל־בַּחֲמָתְךָ֥ תְיַסְּרֵֽנִי

ʾadoonoy ʾal–bbeʾappecho sochiycheyniy veʾal–bbachamosecho seyassereyniy

O LORD, do not punish me in anger, do not chastise me in fury.

MIDRASH TEHILLIM

1.....(6.7)
O LORD, do not punish me in anger...
When not given anger, chastisement is good, as it is said: "Chasten me, O Lord, but with a measure, not with Your wrath, lest You diminish me." (Yirmiyahu - Jeremiah 10:24)

RADAK

1.
O LORD, do not punish me in anger
If You do rebuke me for mine iniquity, let it not be in Your anger. He means "gently," so that I may be able to bear it; as Jeremiah the Prophet says (Yirmiyahu - Jeremiah 10:24): " O Lord, correct me, but with judgement," etc.
