(the sense of) פרק (rending in pieces) is to be gathered from the sense (of the expression) in "and thou shall break in pieces (ופרקת) his yoke" (Gen. 27:41).

is the forcible separation of things that hitherto had been linked together. Thus we also derive, in the good sense, the word “to release”. Here, referring to a lion, it denotes a tearing away, a carrying off.
