Mizmor 004, Verse 004

udeʿu kiyhiflo ʾadonoy chosiyd lo ʾadonoy yishmaʿ bekoreʾiy ʾeyloyv

Know that the LORD singles out the faithful for Himself; the LORD hears when I call to Him.

RADAK

1.
the LORD singles out the faithful for Himself...
set apart (הפלה) (hiflo):-He hath set aside and separated.
And its interpretation:
He has separated me from all Israel to be king; on the analogy of "The Lord separated the tribe of Levi" (Devarim - Deuteronomy 10:8).
And why? Because He knows me to be -
a (hasid) godly one: - The godly is he who does good to his neighbour beyond what the Law requires of him.

Rabbi HIRSCH

1.
[וּדְע֗וּ] (udeʿu) (but know)
“It is an obvious fact to which you should not close your eyes; experience has shown it to be true.”
2.
[חָסִ֣יד] (hasid) (the faithful)
is perfect, selfless devotion.
Hasid Lo - he who dedicates himself to God without reservations, who consecrates all his endeavors to God and entrusts his fate entirely to Him. God has always chosen for special guidance and care those who devote themselves completely to Him. The life and fate of such a person has always proven that devotion to God and trust in Him are no idle delusion, and “therefore I know that God hears my cry, too, when I call unto Him,” David tells us.
